Education Reform

Every Vermont child deserves a good education.

Vermont spends more per pupil than almost any state in the nation — yet outcomes remain stubbornly unequal. Rural schools are crumbling. Teacher vacancies go unfilled for months. Too many students graduate without the skills they need to compete in a modern economy.

The status quo isn't working. I believe every child — regardless of zip code — deserves access to excellent teachers, modern facilities, and a curriculum that prepares them for the future.

Bryan's Commitments

Our children are graduating without the ability to read books, according to new articles. Or worse, they're not graduating at all. I will target resources to under-funded schools, fund early literacy programs, invest in counseling services, and provide student support services to ensure no child is left behind.
Vermont's special education students have not received the help needed to overcome disabilities. This state has a high percentage of special ed students and we devote an unusually large slice of our budget to special ed but continue to see underperforming outcomes. I will work to support special educators to actually provide the promised services in every child's IEP.
Our students need help and so do our educators! I will advocate for competitive salaries and loan forgiveness for educators who commit to Vermont schools while working with districts to hire more aides and support staff so teachers can teach.
Everyday Vermonter's are being crushed by school taxes while inflation and tariffs continue to drive prices up. I will work with the legislature to fund statewide capital investment to repair aging buildings, eliminate redundant or underused infrastructure, upgrade technology, and create safe, inspiring learning environments.

Housing Affordability & Construction

Vermonters deserve to stay in the communities they love.

Vermont is facing a housing crisis. Rents are rising, young people and families are leaving, and working Vermonters can't afford to stay in the communities they love. I will cut red tape, incentivize new construction, and help build the housing Vermont needs.

Bryan's Commitments

Our state has run out of housing. I will set a goal of 24,000 new housing units over three years from taking office through public-private partnerships and state programs so that our young people can stay and contribute to our economy.
While we run out housing, new development is being stifled. I would work to reform the zoning process, decreasing delays without sacrificing Vermont's beautiful environmental resources.
Everybody agrees: we need to keep young people in Vermont. But more and more and leaving to seek careers elsewhere. I will work to create a Vermont first-time homebuyer tax credit to support working families.
Renters are being pushed out of our state by Airbnb style rentals pushing up rents. I will champion rent stabilization for renters statewide.
Vermont has record high levels of homelessness and unused office space. I will incentivize conversion of underused commercial or office space into residential units.

Environmental Protection

Vermont's land, water, and clean air are our greatest inheritance.

Vermont's forests, lakes, farms, and clean air are our greatest inheritance — and our greatest responsibility. I will lead on climate action, protect our natural resources, and promote a clean energy economy that creates jobs and keeps Vermont beautiful.

Bryan's Commitments

Our world is burning. We must act on the climate crisis before it's too late. I will accelerate Vermont's transition to a clean economy.
Every year, Lake Champlain is infested with blue-green algae blooms. I will work to protect Lake Champlain and Vermont's waterways from agricultural and stormwater runoff.
We can put Vermonters to work while also providing environmental stewardship! I will expand funding for clean energy jobs in this state.
Without farmers we would have no food; we must support our farmers. I will support Vermont farmers in adopting climate-resilient agriculture practices.

Healthcare

Quality care should be a right for every Vermonter.

Healthcare is a right, not a privilege. Too many Vermonters are skipping care because of cost, driving hours to see a specialist, or struggling to find a primary care provider. I will work to lower costs, expand access, and strengthen our rural health network.

Bryan's Commitments

Everybody has health problems sometimes. We need to protect our vulnerable. I will work for universal healthcare for all full-time Vermont residents.
Drug prices continue to rise with no end in sight. I would negotiate lower drug prices for all Vermonters.
We all want our children to stay in Vermont - even when they have children of their own. I would work to subsidize child care for all children in our state.
The drug epidemic is getting worse and all officials have done is provide "shoot-up sites". Instead, I would strengthen mental health services and substance use treatment programs.
Doctors and hospitals are stuck in a bureaucratic hell. I would work to simplify administration for our healthcare providers while also facilitating less expensive care.

Public Safety

Safe communities are literally the foundation of our future.

Vermonters deserve to feel safe in their homes and communities. I would support law enforcement while also addressing the root causes of crime. Smart public safety policy does both.

Bryan's Commitments

We need more police - period. I would increase funding for local law enforcement recruitment, training, and retention.
We've all seen rampant drug use in our state and want it to end. I would put a stop to public "shoot-up sites".
The majority of the problem is just a few repeat offenders. I would end catch and release tactics so repeat offenders are off our streets.
Nobody wants to have an emergency without help! I would expand emergency management infrastructure.
